Historical City Views

Our vintage city prints are handmade replicas of old views of walled cities, made between the late 1400s and the late 1600s. Most show Croatian cities, along with Jerusalem.

The oldest come from Konrad von Grünenberg’s illustrated account of his 1486 pilgrimage from Konstanz to Jerusalem, completed in 1487. His views include Jerusalem and Dubrovnik, which he passed by ship on the way. 2 later views show Dubrovnik under its old name, Ragusa: one dated 1528 and one from before the earthquake of 1667, which badly damaged the city. The Zagreb view is by Johann Weikhard von Valvasor and shows the city in 1689 under its old German name, Agram.

Each view is finished by hand in our family workshop in Croatia. We burn the edges, add gold paint highlights, and seal the hand-processed paper with beeswax, so no 2 prints are exactly alike. Every order ships free worldwide.
